With different backgrounds in engineering and cognitive science, Sabah is interested in teamwork studies. Currently his research is focused on collaboration in engineering teams. The research has different stages; based on a systematic literature review, it first started with portraying a comprehensive conceptual framework of collaboration in engineering teams. Then developing a theory to measure active engagement as a metric of collaboration, and examining the method through different case studies. Next, applying state-of-the-art technologies to improve collaboration, for example using machine-learning techniques to detect active engagement in the teams’ communication.
