The scientific problem that the project aims to solve is related to the broken digital thread throughout the entire product lifecycle. The project purpose is to establish complementary data structures' characteristics associated with their relationships linking the conceptual architecture, product behavior and functions with the detailed design and manufacturing in a coherent and bidirectional system development environment. Thus, the objective of this project is to achieve consistent system-to-system data exchange by developing a DSM-based tool, supported by 3D interfaces visualization, for defining and managing system interface relationships throughout the lifecycle.
